Survivor Sicily: A Guide to making the island right

I remember when I first told people who was studying in Sicily for a semester. Reactions to "is it safe?" and "don't you worry the Mafia" with my bag and I as I went to the door to the center of the Mediterranean. Perceptions of the island are as far as you can get a real Sicilian experience. An Earth invaded by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Spanish and ultimately the Italians gifts the perfect place to begin a journey through the Mediterranean.
Rather than just writing out the island as a place infested Mafia, Sicily has much to offer in terms of history, nature, price and continental presence Italy is jealous to some extent. Yes, you can survive Sicily and may even never want to leave. Interesting Sicily could be vacation for a long term stay.
When to go
Sicily in the summer can be like taking a shower in sweat 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The island has in the African air climb from the South and swelters in heat. If you want to avoid mosquitoes and sweat after a cold shower due to moisture blanketing, Sicily is best enjoyed when heat subsidies in spring and autumn. The climate is pleasant enough and go to the beach at the end of September. Winters can be hit or miss in Sicily, either bitterly cold at those clinging cities coast or mild and pleasant. Sicily is full of different architectural styles. Arab arches in Palermo to intricate mosaics of Norman in Cefalù, try playing "guess that the initiator of architecture" in Sicily. For a taste of Greece, head to Agrigento, where some of the best churches preserved in the Mediterranean. Pay a visit to the old city of Ortygia in Syracuse and marvel and the city's Cathedral. By your side, you can still do what used to be, a Greek temple to Athena the Baroque church.

How much?
In comparison with the rest of Italy, prices in Sicily are usually lower. A tasty Sicilian pizza can only decline a miserable 3-euro. Cappuccino can be euro 4 in Rome, but in Sicily will ring up to 1.50 euro. Gelato to the wine, Sicily is easier pay to Rome or Venice. Accommodation prices can be high, but if you choose to travel during the low season, rates were cut in half.

"Koh Wai and Koh Mak"

There are no roads and few tourists, by what interests you here! But how long will remain quiet, is unknown.?

The reason why you will find more privacy in most of the islands of Koh Chang, is that they are privately owned.

Accommodation prices can be expensive in some places (up to 4500 B), but you can get basic cabins only 150 n.

There are many restaurants and bars in Koh Wai. So if you are a person of party, Koh Wai might not suit your taste.

Personally I enjoyed Koh Mak and its crystal clear waters far better than Koh Wai. Also it was much more relaxing.

Snorkeling tours from Ko Chang usually includes snorkel island around these islands as well.

Koh Mak

Ko Chang Island: Koh Chang, is quite simple.

Koh Mak is situated 20 km from Koh Chang and can be in wooden boats and boats.

Simple huts on the coast. They have a restaurant that serves local dishes at reasonable prices.

Pakarang Resort

This resource is probably the most beautiful on the island because it has a solid, clean and comfortable bungalows with ocean views.

The bungalows with fan are the cheapest, and all of them have bathrooms.

Good option for flashpackers!

Price per night: 250 B

If you want a cheap place to stay on the island, Koh Wai Paradise offers reasonably clean bungalows with fan and shared bathroom.

Price per night: 300 B

Good feeling is known for its beach bungalows excellent seafood and friendly staff.

If a couple of nights can be odorless, these beach bungalows are well. The bungalows have fan and attached bathroom.

Although Ko Chang is quite tourisy, you can find cheap cabins and bungalows on the island.

Lonely Beach is the place to go if you want to budget options and strong at the same time parties! The beach is definitely Backpackers of Chang Ko.

Secluded beach is not like the white sandy beach. White sand is packed with people, shops and 7-11. It is very developed and tourist in my opinion.

But lonely beach is much more charming and relaxing.

Probably the cheapest option in the Ko Chang Island! The cabins are very simple and small, fan and shared bathroom.

Block here if you want a simple basis or if you are in a very tight budget.

Ko Chang accommodation: Oasis

Price per night: 350-400 B

Garden cabins cost 350 B and Seaview bungalows cost 400 n.

Bungalows with fan and attached bathroom. Serve delicious Thai and some Western meals in its restaurant (pasta and sandwiches).

If you are looking for a quiet beach in the island of Ko Chang, go to Chai Chet!

Chai Chet cannot be in the top list for most backpackers coming to Koh Chang, because many travelers go to lonely beach.

I stayed close to Chai Chet, a couple of nights and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere on the beach. I really had space around me from the white sand beach, and the beach was quiet and clean.

If you get tired of placing yet, try swings hanging from the Palm trees!

Or take a walk enjoying the excellent view of the ocean.

These are accommodations that I tried Beach Chai Chet:

Price per night: 500 B (Jan 2008)

Spacious rooms with TV, attached bathroom, hot shower, air conditioning and fridge. When he stayed there, there was a lot of Thai tourists and few foreigners. Why do not charge a higher price than this.

I spent a night in Saigars, near the beach of Chai Chet in January 2008 and through an agent in Bangkok.

The staff was great and cozy. Bungalow was very well. It came with a large bed and bedroom connected, but it was very dusty on the floor.

The place was pretty new then and much nothing happened in the evening. I felt that it was the only person in this place.

But now, have a swimming pool and a cool bar.

What I liked about Saigars was its location. To get to the beach of Chai Chet, I had to walk for at least 20 minutes.

At that time, there was no direct access to the beach (which was unaware of).

Looking for a good place to eat in Koh Chang?

If you are staying in a hotel they usually have a restaurant there. Otherwise, there are many restaurants in the island of Ko Chang. Finding one is not a problem.

Most of them serving a combination of Thailand and Western meals. From simple food posts dishes to fine cuisine.

Restaurants in Ko Chang is, of course, famous for its seafood dishes. Lobsters, mackerel, tuna and many other species are newly captured from the sea.

Only ate at food stalls in Koh Chang, which is why I am afraid that I can not provide you with names of restaurants.

Inexpensive food stalls can be found near beach of white sand, Kae Bae and Chai Chet beach.

Outside the supermarket in Chai Chet, you will see 2-3 posts of food.

Price: Dishes cost between 30-100 B and fruit shakes costs 60-70 B. suggestion: have to try the dishes of fish with garlic and pepper on this island. Along with some rice and four flavours, makes you craving more!

The cost of meals of fish over 40 - 50 B, Thai Pad cost 30 B and it was one of the better Pad Thais that I've tried it on Thailand.

Another cheap option is to buy food in the purses of concentration on the white sand and Chai Chet.

You can also buy fresh fruit of permanent food suppliers along the main road near the beaches.

If you like fruits such as lychee, have to try the fruit Logan (Lamjay).

I bought 2 kilo every day and never tires of its sweet taste.

Of course have loads of other delicious fruits cheap:

Pineapple, mango, durians, Rambutan, grapefruit, papaya, mangosteen, lychee, jujube, guavas, Dragon fruit and you should definitely try yellow jackfruits and the roseapples! I also tried the Tamarindos, but that was the only result not liked the taste of.

If you are missing bakery products, try Papa Deli Bakery in Kai Bae beach.

Papa Deli can get fresh baguettes, croissants, bread and rye bread toasted homemade, original Italian salami, Coppa ham, Gruyere Swiss, Gouda, mild Cheddar, feta cheese, cheese cream, pizzas and pastas.

DJ bar Ting Tong

There is not much nightlife (clubs) in the island of Ko Chang, but there are beer bars and bars of karaoke that extends from the white sandy beach all the way to the South.

In the secluded beach, tend to have parties in the areas of bungalow as Magic Garden Resort. Magical garden is notoriously known for its DJ parties and heavy cube drink.

Other good places to test in Playa lonely is Ting Tong bar -a milestone for backpackers. You can relax in the roof and listen to live music every night.

Also I heard about a great place called Porno Bar by Kai Bae beach where they meet loads of backpackers together for drinks and good music.

You can watch shows impressive fire while drinking buckets next to the beach.

Porn Bar is an ideal bar if you want a relaxed atmosphere, where can simply go with fellow travelers and exciting stories of Exchange. They get a bonus of their smoking water pipes (Shisha in Arabic).

 On the way to the island of Ko Chang, the ship stopped by an island full of hunger and screams of monkeys. One of the officers threw bananas at them and were all those who fight for food. The fight was quite ugly, and became only the boat.

However, the tour went well, but was not the best. I preferred to snorkel on Ko Phi Phi.

Therefore, if you hurry perhaps should be the tour. And if not, rent a boat from the long tail in the island of Ko Chang!

You can sit on the neck of the elephant and get brushed by branches of trees, while it is taking slow steps, but robust.
